Screenshots collect sensitive things by accident: the password manager behind the window, the customer email in the corner, the account number in the sidebar. This tool blurs the whole image to a strength where text is unrecoverable, locally, before you share it.
The danger with most "blur" edits is that they are reversible. A gentle blur is a mathematical operation that can be partially undone, and blurring a small patch of otherwise-known text has been used to recover the original characters. Doing the work in your browser, at a strength high enough that neighboring characters bleed together into a single smear, avoids both problems: the data never leaves your device, and there is nothing sharp left to reconstruct.

When to blur, and how far
Whole-image blur is the right call when sensitive details are scattered across the frame, or when you want to publish a screenshot purely to show a layout or a mood without any of its actual content being legible. Because it treats the entire capture at once, there is no risk of missing a stray email address hiding in a notification or a browser tab.
Set the strength to the stakes. For casual context-hiding, a moderate blur is fine; for anything that must stay secret, push the slider to 40 or above so characters merge beyond recovery. If you need part of the image to stay readable while a specific region is hidden, crop the sensitive area away entirely or pixelate just that region instead, since those give a cleaner, more obviously-redacted result.

How strong does blur need to be to hide text?
Strength 40 and above: characters blur into their neighbors beyond recovery. Light blur (under 15) can leave text readable with effort, or even be undone programmatically. When the content must stay secret, go strong or pixelate instead.
Is the blur permanent once I download the file?
Yes. The tool renders the blur into the pixels and exports a flat image, so there is no hidden original layer underneath, unlike some editors that keep the sharp version in the file. What you download is what everyone sees, with nothing recoverable behind it.
