Upload portals, marketplaces and government forms often set limits such as "image must be under 100 KB". This tool searches quality settings to fit your target when possible, without changing dimensions. If quality alone cannot meet it, use the Image Resizer manually, then try again.
The tool counts 1 KB as 1024 bytes; a portal may use decimal KB (1000 bytes). Leave headroom below a strict limit and check the downloaded file size, accepted format, required dimensions and visible quality before uploading.

Frequently asked questions
How does target-size compression work?
The tool encodes trial versions, measures their bytes and binary-searches quality at the current dimensions. It finds a result at or below the target when achievable; it does not produce an exact byte count or automatically resize the image.
What if my image cannot reach the target size at acceptable quality?
If the quality search cannot fit the target, the tool reports that it cannot fit. Reduce dimensions manually with the Image Resizer, then retry. Even a result that fits may look degraded: review it and keep any dimensions the destination requires.
Which format should I pick for a strict size limit?
Choose a format the destination accepts. WebP often gives smaller files than JPG at similar visible quality, but some portals require JPG. Both use lossy quality settings here; PNG is not offered because its size cannot be tuned through quality changes.
Can every target size be reached?
No. Success depends on the image, format and current dimensions. An unreachable target produces a cannot-fit message, not an automatic resize. Leave headroom for strict portal limits, especially if they count 1 KB as 1000 rather than 1024 bytes, and verify the result before uploading.
