Screenshot Annotator
Move & resize
Click a placed item (text, sticker, shape, stroke or merged image) to select it, then drag inside it to move it.
Drag one of the four corner handles to make it bigger or smaller. Scaling is proportional, so nothing gets distorted.
The Delete key also removes the selected item. Press Escape to deselect.
PNG keeps text and edges pixel-sharp — the right choice for screenshots.
Saves the edited image at its current dimensions. JPG, PNG, and WebP keep their format; other supported inputs download as JPG. Check the downloaded file for final quality.
The editor runs entirely in your browser: your screenshot is loaded into memory, annotated on a local canvas, and exported from it. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use the screenshot annotator
- Drop your screenshot onto the editor (or click to browse).
- Pick a tool: arrow, rectangle, ellipse, pen, highlight or text.
- Draw directly on the image. Undo removes steps one at a time.
- Download the annotated image as PNG (default, keeps text sharp) or JPG.
Point at the thing. A screenshot without an arrow makes the reader hunt for what you mean; one red arrow ends the discussion. This editor adds arrows, rectangles, ellipses, text, freehand pen and translucent highlights to any image, with per-step undo, entirely in your browser.
It is built for the whole family of screenshot work: bug reports, tutorials, feedback, "click this button" emails. The original image is never uploaded and never modified on disk; the annotated copy downloads as a new file.
Frequently asked questions
Which export format should I use?
PNG, the default. Screenshots are full of sharp text and flat UI colors, exactly what PNG stores perfectly and exactly what JPG smears. Use JPG only when file size matters more than text crispness, such as screenshots bound for chat apps.
Can I blur or pixelate parts of the screenshot?
Yes, with the dedicated blur and pixelate tools: screenshot blur softens a region beyond recovery, screenshot pixelate blocks it out. Annotate first or blur first, whichever order suits the message.
Does the editor change my original file?
Never. The screenshot is loaded into memory, annotations are drawn on top, and the result is saved as a new download. Your original file on disk is untouched.
Is there a limit on image size?
Screenshots up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels work, which covers every real screenshot and then some. Beyond that, browsers run out of canvas memory and the tool tells you plainly instead of freezing.
