Is resizing a JPG lossy?
The resampling itself is high-quality, but JPG re-encoding always applies your quality setting. 85+ keeps photos effectively pristine. Resize once from the original rather than repeatedly from the output to avoid generation loss.
How do I resize without losing quality?
Downscale (making smaller) is visually safe at any quality 85+. No detail existed at the larger size anyway. Upscaling is the risky direction: keep it under 2× or use dedicated AI upscalers for more.
