Frequently asked questions
Is transparency preserved when resizing?
Yes. The resampling runs on the RGBA pixels as a whole, so the alpha channel scales with the color channels. Semi-transparent edges remain smooth, not jagged.
Why did my PNG get bigger after shrinking?
PNG file size does not scale linearly with dimensions. Very small PNGs sometimes grow slightly due to filter overhead. Converting tiny graphics to WebP resolves it; for icons, this effect is a few hundred bytes and ignorable.
What size should a logo PNG be?
Export at 2× its largest display size (retina) and let CSS scale it down; logos look blurry when upscaled. A logo shown at 150 CSS pixels wants a 300px PNG.
