Frequently asked questions
Can I pixelate just a face or a license plate?
This tool pixelates the entire image. For a specific region, crop that region out first (the crop tool records exact pixels), pixelate it here, then place it back in any editor. A dedicated region-select pixelator is on the roadmap.
Is pixelation safer than blur for hiding content?
For strong settings, both destroy the underlying information. Pixelation is often preferred because its effect is obvious to the eye: viewers can see something was hidden. Either way, use large blocks or strong blur; light obfuscation of text can sometimes be read with effort.
What block size should I choose?
30–60px blocks hide faces and text reliably while keeping the image recognizable. Above 100px the image becomes mostly color fields. Small blocks (4–12px) produce a retro aesthetic rather than real censorship.
