Frequently asked questions
Why does the crop output JPG instead of HEIC?
Browsers cannot encode HEIC, so the cropped photo is saved as JPG, PNG or WebP. That is a feature in practice: the cropped file becomes more compatible than the original. At quality 90+ the crop is visually indistinguishable from the HEIC source.
How do I crop a HEIC to a square?
Pick the 1:1 preset and the tool computes the largest square that fits your photo, which you can then fine-tune with the pixel inputs. Square crops suit avatars, product thumbnails and social posts.
Can I crop a whole camera roll at once?
