Frequently asked questions
Why does the output come as JPG or WebP instead of HEIC?
Browsers cannot encode HEIC; no browser-based tool can honestly output it. JPG keeps maximum compatibility, WebP keeps the smallest size. Both preserve the visual quality you choose, and both open everywhere the original HEIC might not.
Can I compress HEIC to a specific size, like under 1 MB?
Yes: switch to the target-size mode and enter your limit. The tool searches for the exact quality that fits, and tells you honestly if the resolution had to shrink as well.
Does compressing HEIC photos lose quality?
One re-encode at your chosen quality. At 85+ the result is visually indistinguishable. Avoid repeated re-compression: compress once from the original, keep the original if you may re-edit later.
