JPG to PNG Converter

Your images are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded to any server.

Convert JPG photos to PNG without uploading them. Useful when a system demands PNG, when you plan further lossless edits, or when you need to add transparency in an editor afterward. Fair warning: PNG files will be larger than the JPG originals. PNG cannot compress photographic content as tightly.

How to use the jpg to png converter

  1. Add your JPG files (drag-and-drop or click to browse).
  2. PNG output is already selected. No settings needed.
  3. Convert and check each result's new file size.
  4. Download the PNGs one by one or as a single ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does JPG to PNG conversion improve quality?

No, and beware tools implying otherwise. JPG compression already discarded data; converting to PNG preserves exactly what remains, pixel-for-pixel. The benefit is future-proofing: once in PNG, saving again does not degrade further.

Why did my file get bigger?

PNG lossless compression is inefficient for photographs, so a 500 KB JPG commonly becomes a 2–3 MB PNG. If you just need transparency-capable but small, convert to WebP instead. It supports alpha at a fraction of the size.

Can I add a transparent background when converting?

Not in a plain conversion. JPG has no transparency to carry over. Use the background remover first, save as PNG, and use this tool for batch jobs thereafter.
